Philosophy | The Satisfaction of Patience (or why you haven't had sex with her yet)

The term 'slow burn' gets used a lot in more than just visual novels. I've seen some comments referring to 'A Man for All' as a slow burn and I don't mind the label. I think there's more to it than just making someone wait though.

I know what this is all about. Most of you—if not all of you—just want to have sex and are waiting for that moment. Everything is building up toward it. You're talking to these girls. You're getting deeper into the story. You're learning more about them.

And that's the key. I want you to get to know them. You're learning more about them and you're still going to be learning about them for a long time. You have some details about their lives. You know about their personalities. But you don't know their full stories. I know this because I know everything about them and I haven't told you their secrets yet.

There are two camps on this. You're either biding your time until you get the chance to finally get the girl you like into the sack (if you haven't already). Or you're enjoying spending time with them even if it's not having sex. Maybe you're both. I'd like to address the latter in this case.

I know what you're thinking. Having lunch with a girl or dancing with her or having a flirty conversation can be fun. Even getting a handjob or making out with her is great. But it's not quite doing the deed. Going all the way is the pinnacle. The view might be great while you're climbing but nothing can match the view when you're on the mountaintop.

That's just it. Once you get to the mountaintop, there's nowhere higher to go. When you hit that peak of finally sleeping with a girl, you've gone as far as you can go physically with her. And your only option is to enjoy yourself on top of that mountain. Of course, I'll do my best to make sure you have as much fun as you can on top of the mountain. But the truth is you're never gonna have that feeling of finally reaching the mountaintop. You're already there. You might stay on top of the mountain but it will never have the same feeling as reaching the top of the mountain.

I know it's my responsibility to keep things fresh and keep you engaged after you've finally gotten the girl you want. But I have to be honest with myself and the reality of any situation when you're striving for something. You can have sex with a girl. Then have sex with her again. Then have sex with her again. Then do it again. That's where the bar will be. You can never go any lower. And anything that dips below it will feel like a disappointment. 

So, what's the solution? You find enjoyment in other things. You enjoy the flirting. You enjoy the kissing. You enjoy the dancing and going on dates and hanging out with each other. You enjoy the conversations. You enjoy getting to know her. It won't match the pleasure of having sex with her. Not even close. But maybe you'll find some contentment in just sharing a scene with her.

That's where my challenge is. Not to just throw sex at you constantly. Because when that happens, something that's special becomes less special. No, my challenge is to make all of the other things enjoyable. Not as enjoyable as sex. It never will be. But enjoyable to a small degree.

I don't think there's any way I can write a story that gets you that high and keeps you there consistently. But I can tell you this much. You'll get that high. Just know that you can't stay there.

Who are you waiting for? Vanessa? Riley? Kate? Harlow? You'll get there eventually. Just remember. You can only have sex with her for the first time once. I want to make sure that high is as high as it can be. That's why you haven't had sex with her. Yet.

I hope that gives you some better insight into why things are a 'slow burn' and how to look at things. I know that there's another, bigger, more important side to this. You just want to see these girls naked and have sex with them. I feel that way a lot. I get it. I'd be disappointed if you didn't think any of the girls were hot and you didn't want to have sex with them. And I'm well aware that this is just a porn game. I'm not going to pretend like I'm writing some high-brow work of art with some deeper meaning. I'm just putting my thoughts out there as something to consider. I know this is just a long-winded way of saying to enjoy the journey and not focus entirely on the destination.

Having said all of that, things are going to ramp up. We're past the early part of the story and you know a lot of girls and you know some of them pretty well. You're at a different stage in the relationship with every girl. Some are moving fast. Some are moving really slow. But everything is going to move.

On Episode 7

I'm cutting out some extra scenes since they're not too important and heading toward the final scene. There should be a hefty final render count for telling the story I wanna tell for this episode. The last scene takes place across a new location, so it took me a few hours to build it. It's kinda like moving around digital LEGO pieces to put everything together. It's not the worst thing in the world but it can get tedious and take a lot of time. I also had to make a few new characters, too. With the poll ending, I can start rendering this weekend. It's a big scene, so I can't place a timetable on it. I don't plan on having this scene take months to render like last time.

After that, I can hopefully move on to rendering the other scenes with animations in them and perhaps start the early coding. As mentioned above, there's gonna be a few more animation sequences in this episode. That's the content we all came here for, right?

Not much else to say beyond that. I'm working like always. Every render brings us all one step closer to a new episode.
