Character Profile: The Main Character

Hi everybody. While we're waiting for the next episode, I figured I'd take the time to do some character profiles and give you more insight into the game.

And I thought there was no better place to start with than you, the main character.

For the MC, I wanted to go with a model design that was ordinary and unassuming. I didn't want someone who was disgustingly hideous. I didn't want someone who was distractingly handsome either. He's just supposed to be an ordinary young twenty-something. Someone who you could plausibly believe had a chance with all of these different girls.

This is a work of fiction and I plan on having fun with it. As the story progresses, the MC will face more incredible challenges and thus, have to become more incredible himself. I don't like the term 'male power fantasy' because it has a negative connotation. But as the name 'A Man for All' implies, the MC will have his hands full, literally and figuratively. In the end, I want the MC's journey to be rewarding and satisfying. That's my goal with his story above anything else.

The Personality System

Two stats are tracked for the MC: Diplomat and Rebel. These two stats speak for themselves and it's far from an original idea.

Whenever you're presented with these choices, you get to decide how you approach it. Over time, your stats will build up as you make more choices. The larger ramifications won't be seen well into the future when it comes to the major choices, so you won't see any long-term results until then. The immediate impact, however, comes from the choice itself and what happens right after it.

I wanted you to have the option on how to deal with situations, whether that's aggressively or passively. We're all different, so we all make different choices.

Having said that, the MC's base personality will always lean toward the good.

Take this situation, for example. Let's say you the MC seeing an old lady get mugged in the street. You'll have two options in this case:

1. Scare the mugger away and make sure the old lady is okay (Diplomat)

2. Chase the mugger down and beat him to a pulp (Rebel)

You won't get the following options:

3. Ignore the situation completely

4. Team up with the mugger and rob the old lady

The MC is a good guy who's always willing to help. You can't change that. As much as I'd like to have infinite options, I wouldn't be able to rein things in.

Down the line, you'll have more options and control over the major decisions. But all of the small decisions will have an impact, even if it's just a tiny difference.

That's it for this post. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll get to it in the next update.

Hope you all have a good weekend!
