Stefanie Messialle

Can't see or recall if this has been asked yet, answered yet, or mentioned. But I would love to learn what was there before Norton disney lived there, how far back does the evidence go of human habitation on that site.

Victoria Fairley

Hi, thanks for the questions. Yes, Carenza has been very actively involved in co-ordinating the test-pits with the volunteers, alongside Dani. We had a quick chat with her in the Dig Watch on the morning of Day One. For the rest of the three days, she's been busy hopping from one test pit to another keeping things running smoothly!

Time Team

Is Carenza Lewis, Queen of the Test Pits, involved in this dig? I didn’t spot her in the Dig Watch; was Dani in charge this time? In the opinion of the Test Pit Coordinator, is it better to have many test pits close together, or spread out over a greater distance, and why? And what are the best and the most challenging parts of huge community involvement such as you’ve seen at Norton Disney?

Elizabeth Esser

What is it like to see at special thing you find in your est pit

Warrick J Foote

How do you choose where to put the test pits? I mean both generally (as in which part of the village and which garden) and very specifically - what exact place in each garden.

Ann Wagner

The virtuoso performance on the sheep bone flute was surprising. Would Paleolithic bone flutes been capable of such complex melodies?

Pat Szastkiw

What is the meaning/background of the "Norton" part of the name?

David Alan Jones

The nineteenth century maps (NLS) seem to show a very shrunken village. Did the Disneys clear the village for sheep in the fifteenth or sixteenth century as so many were?

Paul Bivand

How did the Disney family end up in this village? What was their link to Europe and what was the role of that family there?

KL Sweet

A general question. With all the technological advances in archaeology in the past 10 years or so, what do you feel has been the most welcome addition?

Robert Boudreau

Great question @rogerlundgren I would second this!

Laura and Alex Tovey

Some farmers here have gone back to that process. It’s minimally evasive to archaeology and retains the soil structure, reducing erosion.

The Digging Gardener

Was the Disney family related to any of the royals and if so, how far is Mickey Mouse from being the next King?

Carl Johnson

Do any of the Disney ancestors have an artistic skills?

Steven Craighead

Could you add a short interview segment to the TT News? You could talk with past and present Team members and focus on how they got interested in Archaeology.

Roger Lundgren

Who, when, and where did the Disney family emigrate to America?

Ed Mair

When did we contrive "Ploughing" the soil instead of the current African methods, and elsewhere, of poking small holes for the seeds in the Garden areas? Martha B. Anthropologist, TX

Martha Berryman

What are the initial questions this dig tries to find answers for? Do we have a rough idea where this manor once stood? Are we expecting to find one manor house that was modified over time or rather different buildings at different times? What archives are known beforehand to have documents related to the dig?

Wolfgang Zenker

Do you use voluntary help on your digs, and how do you enroll help?

Fran Whelan

only one pub in town, The Green Man, will there be room for all ?

Lord Simons

What is special about this dig? And what would be the best item for you to find?

Barry Jones

What advice to you have for locals who feel the urge to dig on their own property? Don't do it; leave it to the professionals? Suggest a 1 meter test pit? Call a local archaeology group first? Go back indoors and watch old Time Team episodes?

Jane McCormack

Any worth wile endeavor requires strategic, operational and tactical movements. I would love TT to more thoroughly outline to us Patreon folks each of these elements. Understanding the why, who, what, where and how the dig is to be conducted in detail would be great. I do so love the old and new TT but would love to know more about the planning and the down in the weeds/dirt of how the digs come about. Just sayin’. 😉 I suppose what I suggest is an entertaining documentary on how the sausage is made from A to Z. This might cost a few pence but a good investment in the long run. Mick might agree…crack on!

Eggs Ackley

With it being so close to Halloween does anyone have an odd or spooky story that took place during a dig?

Michael Louk

What makes for a memorable dig?

Leanne

How was Norton Disney chosen for Time Team's latest Dig?

Steve Mikre

What is your favourite Disney film? and why?

Frank Pellow
