NEW Time Team Podcast: Exclusive Teaser

We're very excited to be launching the brand new Time Team Podcast on Tuesday 3rd September 2024, co-hosted by Martyn Williams and Time Team's own Dr Helen Geake!

No doubt, you'll be very familiar with Helen already, and we're thrilled to introduce Martyn, who brings a wealth of podcasting and broadcasting experience with him, plus a thirst to discover more about archaeology.

Previously, we've used our podcast platforms to showcase audio-only versions of Time Team's video content, including Time Team News and other interviews. However, this is a completely new programme, created specifically as a podcast for your listening pleasure!

Available publicly to all, there will be special opportunities for Patreon members to get involved, plus additional exclusive content for our members.

Here's a message from Martyn and Helen to tell us more.

Get ready to listen to the first episode here: https://podfollow.com/time-team

Enjoy!

I love the podcast, and I have a question for Helen. I was lucky enough to travel from Australia to go on the Sutton Hoo dig- one of the best weeks of my life! and I would love to know if there is any more news or plans about the ship shaped object found on geophys down on the flood plain of the Deben. It looked so intriguing

I can’t wait to listen to these podcasts as an ardent follower of Time Team since it first started. But I must add that although it was great to hear Helen, I was also delighted to hear Martyn ( as a former listener to him on Radio Derby!) I think you will be asking the right questions at the right time.

Jane Smith

This is great! Appreciate your time and expertise… look forward to the next one .. cheers muchly

Thanks for your reply. Like many others. It seems, I'm really excited about your Podcasts, it's a great idea. I've never thought much of a podcast as those that. I have heard before we're very boring. So once again WELL DONE TO ALL AT TIME TEAM. Your really raising the game.👍👍👍⛏️⛏️⛏️

Barry Jones

What a fantastic idea. Well done Paul, if it comes to a vote for anything, I'd back you all the way on this one ⛏️⛏️⛏️👏👏👏👏

Barry Jones

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, Barry! Our next episode is out on 17th so you'll have to wait just a little longer I'm afraid

Martyn Williams

Great idea, Paul!

Martyn Williams

Could you do a programme of local archaeological groups who followed up on the 3 day digs and all the discoveries they made to add to the overall picture? Thanks for all the programmes they are so interesting.

Paul

My second listening of podcast 1? With Helen an Martyn again. I just loved it. It's lovely just listening to them and getting more excited about where it goes from here. Well done to everyone at Time Team for offering us this amazing link to the hands on work you guys do. Can't wait till Tuesday it's a whole two days away, well nearly.⛏️⛏️⛏️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Barry Jones

Thanks Patricia!

Martyn Williams

Hi Michelle, thanks so much for your lovely words about the podcast. We're releasing them once every two weeks at the moment. The next episode will be out on 17th September. We're working on it at the moment!

Martyn Williams

Mick Aston emphasized involving children and answering their questions. What can children (and their parents) do to get involved with archaeology and with Time Team?

Gloria B

The new podcast is fabulous. I have only listened to half so far and want to dive back in but I got to the part about asking Helen a question. Is this the right place? I’d like to ask “what is the best way of going about taking part in a dig?”. I live in North Norfolk. Thanks!

Roger Brooks

Awesome!!!!!!! The way yall are reaching out an educating and entertaining is just mind boggling!!!!! WAY TO GO..... KEEP REACHING AND EXPANDING!!!!

Starla Andreas

Really enjoyed Episode 1! Looking forward to many more

Becky Walsh

Question for John. How does he started Geophysics.

Melanie Pietruska

I just listened to the 1st episode via the link above. I like a podcast that educates me, but not so in-depth that I find it difficult to follow, and I have to say this was perfect. Just the right length of time (for me) a great mix of interesting topics, I smiled the entire time. Well done 🙌 I've added it to my list on Spotify. Cheers everyone! ☕

Patricia Amero

Listening to it right now..it's good to list in too Helen an Martyn... make my week

Warrick J Foote

LOVED the first episode! I’ve always enjoyed listening to Helen but this is a great pairing - Martyn was fab too and I loved his question to her at the end.

Bron Lloyd

Question for Helen. How do you get to understand different strap ends. I remember when you blew Tony’s mind on that.

Sam Batstone

It's on Castbox with all the previous episodes from the last two years

Under The Bodie

It's on cast box

Under The Bodie

That was fantastic. Just what I have been hoping the team would produce

Frank Pellow

Just listened to the first new podcast. It was full of fascinating new information and Martyn and Helen were great hosts. Lovely to hear from Stewart (think he should be in every episode!). How often will these be released and when is the next one? Many thanks for yet more ways to enjoy Time Team.

Michelle Balcombe

It's appeared on Spotify now, but not on YT Music.

Bob Pockney

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👌❤️❤️❤️

Cheryl Kurucz

I can’t watch Time Team while Mom drives because she wants to see, too. This podcast idea is awesome!

Elizabeth Esser

I would +many if I could on this - it would really good if they were posted here as well please!

Christopher Samuel

How about this? How did Carenza get to be a professor?

Andrew Lavey

I always wondered if any of children of the time team cast grew up and pursued a career in Archeology as well...

Steve Mikre

I would like to hear about the latest findings at Henry VIII's Tiltyard and how it relates to the dig that Time Team did on the site. The new findings show GeoPhys scans of the foundations of the towers.

Richard Hartman

Will it be possible to listen to the podcasts on the Patreon platform? I don't have a regular podcast platform...

Fiona D

It's almost as if you heard my thoughts last night -- sitting in my favorite armchair, trying to find just the right podcast to listen to while a knitted for a while. Not true crime, not anything too serious (politics in US are hard to escape) nor anything too silly (not that bad...yet) -- "Like Time Team, but a podcast", I said to myself...

Emmy Jay Makes

Looking forward to hearing the new podcasts.

Liz J

This is just terrific! The more time team, the better! I love the podcast idea as it is often more convenient to listen to rather than watch programs. And I hate to miss the visuals of regular programs, so I often have to put them off until later. With these podcasts I can have instant gratification😊. Thank you for all you Time Team folks do!

Mary Lu Perham

The new podcast is totally awesome and I can't wait for more

Lewis Davis

Great idea, having a podcast, looking forward to it👍

Gillian Smith

Brilliant! I can’t wait to listen.

Julianne Ture

Fantastic. I'm looking forward to it.
