Ask any English person to recall just one date learnt from school history lessons, and there's a good chance you'll get the same answer: 1066.
William, Duke of Normandy's victory at the Battle of Hastings signified the end of Anglo-Saxon rule and the start of the Norman Conquest. But where did this decisive battle actually take place?
Experts have proposed several alternatives to the official battleground at the appropriately named Battle Abbey. In this Classic Special from 2013, Time Team entered the fray, in attempt to settle the debate once and for all!
