Getting money for a straight-up ad/mention seems fine, as long as it's clear that's what's happening. Some folks (Rahdo) manage to give paid opinions while keeping my trust. Some folks try really hard not to give opinions for games they have been paid to work on, but sometimes their enthusiasm spills out anyway (Paul Grogan). Jon Gets Games separates paid playthroughs from Patreon opinions. Which is all to say, you should be able to find something that fits your style and ethics.

Yes some folk will call you a shill, but if you like anything that's good these days you'll be a fanboi anyhoos so it's a bit of a no win situation and you may as well get paid for it as that will help you bring more to the table. Just make sure you pick sponsors that will accept criticism and that they understand your brand is about honest opinions. In an ideal world we'd love for you to find a way to be ad free and still have the resources of the bigger players. But also we know the world doesn't work like that. So yeah, go for it.
