The wallpapers are one of those rewards that havent really changed since I started Patreon in 2016. And after all the wallpapers I pieced together over the time I wonder, if any of you actually uses them? Are they worth the time and effort? If no, why wasting the energy? If yes, is there a better way to handle them?
My thought come mainly from the fact, that I forget to add them to the right folder in Dropbox sometimes and actually nobody ever complains about missing them. And I never ever got feedback on them. So I just wonder if they are useful at all^^
Since I usually do drawing in portrait mode and pretty much every smartphone on the planet lets you adjust the wallpaper to your liking, Im sure the smartphone wallpapers are redundant, so Ill cut them. Wallpapers for bigger screens I did only two sizes, bc it's a mess with all the different layers and versions. And there are so many different display ratios and screen resolutions, I dont know. Maybe you dont even like to use Anime and Hentai themed wallpapers or you piece your own together. Or you love the wallpapers! Idk!
So please tell me in the poll, if you use the wallpapers or if we could drop them? If you use them, feel free to tell me your preferred monitor ratio in the comments? Maybe we could find some kind of one size fits all thing?! xD

I agree that combo wallpapers that put a couple images together(like the Final Fantasy girls ones) are a good addition when they happen, outside of the rest of this discussion.

2019-02-20 20:53:18 +0000 UTCI always look a them but i dont use them. I wouldn't mind if you drop them except versions where more characters are involved like the one with Sora, Riku and Kairi. Those is download too.
2019-02-20 17:28:33 +0000 UTCAs long as it's not taking too much of your time(and you're not doing too many aspect ratios) I think the wallpapers are ok.. I did vote to drop them though, since I'm not in favor of making you spend time on things you don't really want to be doing. I could crop my own images if I needed to, but I know it's a lot easier to do some things(like the flair and colored backgrounds you sometimes add) with the layered source image. If you wanted to reduce the workload a little bit, maybe just go for one 'tall' set for portait monitors and phones, and one 'wide' image targeting 16:9. Anyone still running 8:5 will probably understand if you drop that(if it's really more work after making the 16:9 images.)

That said, if it's not working for you, I'm all for dropping them. As for handling them differently, I've no idea to be honest.

2019-02-20 05:53:07 +0000 UTCI do use your wallpapers, maybe not that consistently because I keep switching between them and some pictures of my wife... An I think that the most common ratio for monitors is 16:9. If you feel like keeping the wallpaper thing, I might suggest you to work on a 4k or even 8k resolution for your final image. Then you work only on that sigle layer image and just crop the thing or resize it whatever the hell you want it. I hope it helps and good luck on your quest for improvement
