Mummyfractic

I want to thank you for your patience if you have noticed a little slow down in content more recently while my energies were on other things.

Some of you have been aware that my 84 year-old mother had been quite unwell for a few months, and sadly Mummyfractic passed away on Friday. She had just moved to hospice the day before, and it was very peaceful.

In these surreal times the 10-day self-isolation laws made things beyond complex for us to time travelling to the UK, all without risking her health too, however she and I opted for the simplicity of video calls and in a weird way it was quite stress free and peaceful to spend time like that. We shared many “face to face” conversations about life and beyond, and said everything we would’ve wanted to say… More than once in fact, as she kept defying doctors’ prognoses over the months!

It’s all a part of life, and I’ve always been pragmatic about death, however it is of course not easy right now. There's a lot of sadness, mixed with treasured memories.

Some of you will know of her just from stories of playing Frogger together on the Apple //e when I was about 8 years old, or helping empower me (along with the late Daddyfractic) to pursue my dreams to work in the movies, but of course she was much more than those things to me and family. Either way, she is now one with the Force....

I’m thankful the end was peaceful and my sisters were holding her hands. She only had 2 anyway so I would’ve been superfluous 😭

Thank you for your patience and kindness. It means a great deal to us.

Thank you for letting me know how my nostalgia might come across. That’s important to me and means a lot. I was very sorry to hear about your loss. Ladyfractic had a similar experience. Thank you for sharing. And for your kind words.

While you only give us the barest glimpses into your personal life, which is for the best really as we all need our privacy, you provide enough to create a sense of how wonderful your childhood was in many ways. Certainly enough to leave you with a strong sense of nostalgia and a lifetime of childlike wonder. Thank you for sharing this sad news. You have my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I lost my mother when I was 27 and it was far too soon. It is always too soon.
