Early bird: LCP!

Well I'm continuing to find that it can be just as intricate and time-consuming (in a fun way) to make a 10 minute Quick Byte as it is to make a long episode! Somehow watching this it feels much longer than it is... hopefully that's a good thing. But I'm super proud of this one, as we explore how David Crane made every copy of a mass produced disk unique!
The Ghostbusters video was really popular (nearly a quarter of a million views now) and the aim here is to reproduce that format to see if lightning might strike twice. Let's just hope my little LCP avoids the strike! ⚡️

Thank you for your ongoing support and as always I welcome any feedback.

That's pretty cool. Maybe just after this video comes out would be a good time to list it on fleaBay 😉

2020-08-28 19:50:23 +0000 UTCMy mate still has a sealed 5.25" disc version of the game (I asked him on the back of this video if he still had it!). I distinctly remember asking him back in the day - probably 1987 when I got my C64 (I was late to the party with the 64) if he would sell it to me and he said no as it will be worth a lot of money in the future... He's not kidding! A mint sealed LCP will be worth many hundreds £ now.

2020-08-26 01:33:51 +0000 UTCThe opening to this video was hilarious, as was Puppyfractic's performance throughout; both had me laughing way too hard, admittedly. I loved seeing the contributions from your fans/supporters; they add another element of entertainment value to the videos themselves and I hope to see more of them in the future. 🙂 It was really interesting to learn how a game like LCP could pretty much guarantee a unique experience for the player and even keep track of the LCPs themselves. Truthfully, I'd never even heard of the game until the Lockdown Livestream, but it was still fascinating to see how games like The Sims clearly got their inspiration, with titles like Little Computer People paving the way. The music featured in the video was really good...not since the songs from the Insta:Mental album have I enjoyed the music as much as the video itself. I decided to purchase the album and support the artist via Bandcamp, citing this video as the reason, not to mention how I discovered the album to begin with. Lastly, if you're going to be upstaged by anyone, Puppyfractic's not a bad choice...have a good one, Christian, and keep up the great work. 😊

2020-08-26 01:06:10 +0000 UTCDavid wasn't too involved so I'm guessing no. Also for some reason I don't think that market would've appreciated the game stopping working.

2020-08-24 15:42:03 +0000 UTCSo do I understand it correctly that when the LCzp died there was no way to reset it (apart from sending it to the factory)?

2020-08-24 10:05:52 +0000 UTCShe does it all herself! I just have to maybe use a different tone of voice, and she gets all introspective. I'm lucky to be surrounded by such talented women! ;-)

2020-08-23 20:38:13 +0000 UTCFantastic episode, Perifractic. I love Puppyfractic's face when you talk about the LCP dying. Great use of her in this episode! This is a really fun episode. I was too young to appreciate (or understand) all this back in the day, but it's great to know now! Thanks for this.

2020-08-23 20:31:00 +0000 UTCWow you were living the same trauma as me! I'm fascinated by the disk return process. What details do you remember about it?

2020-08-23 19:57:46 +0000 UTCLCP was so great! I did end up killing mine (while I was at school one day) and sent my disk in to get resurrected. I had totally forgotten about that.
