2025-06-04 11:11:56 +0000 UTCI saw this at 16 in the theater, yes, probably a little too young, but I learned a lesson that day - that some of the best films out there, or at least the ones that are designed to stick with us, do not have a happy ending. Yes, this movie kind of leaves you feeling hopeless, but that was the point, and in that way, it is a masterpiece. Sidenote: the critic in my local paper opened his review with saying that the number seven could refer to the deadly sins, it could refer to the number of days until Morgan Freeman's retirement, or it could refer to the number of lightbulbs they used while filming. At least that got a laugh out of me, lol.
