Discord and Patreon
Added 2018-02-02 11:55:17 +0000 UTCAs you may have seen, we have recently set up a Discord server for the Good Friends listenership.
Discord is a chat service designed for gamers. It offers easy text, voice and video chat options, along with a suite of additional features designed to support online gaming. You can run Discord from your web browser or download a client app for most platforms.
Given how easy Discord has proved to use, we have also decided to shift backer chats over to the service. The Google Hangouts we used before were limited to 10 participants, which caused some headaches. Discord voice channels are somewhat more accommodating, allowing up to 99 participants.
You should now be able to connect your Patreon account with Discord, allowing you access to the backer-only voice channel. In fact, this may have happened automatically. If you need to do so manually, you can find instructions here:
