Update - Bending Fumi over the table

tl;dr - Late update because I'm sick. I'm working on new monsters in AotNM and I'm planning several releases for different tiers in September.

This week's image

What do you think? It was a bit of a hassle to try and make this one work, so I'm not totally happy with it. In theory I like the pose and idea a lot, it just never seemed quite right. It's always hard to do good 'bent over' poses with these models because their butts don't look natural when bent. They start to look more like a hinge or something - it takes work to fix or get around.

Anyway, this is from the new content for AotNM. A hassle is for the scenes when Kenji is feeling up the maids out in the open I need to do four renders of each picture - one in the dining room, one in the kitchen and two behind the mansion, because each of the girls could be in any of those three locations when you try to feel her up and behind the mansion it could be evening. So there's three other versions of this with identical posing but different surrounds & lighting.

I'm sick

No, not just a pervert, I mean I have a cold. I've been feeling like hammered shit, so progress was a little slower this week. I can still do some work and I've been pushing through, but I'm not feeling energetic for it. That is why I forgot to post this update on time, by the way, I was simply distracted and it slipped my mind. I think I'm starting to get a bit better now, so hopefully in a few days I'll be largely back to normal.

Implementing new monsters

I'm having a bit of fun making the new monsters for Attack of the Nega Maids right now. I've got some new and interesting challenges in mind and I've now got a plan to have 18 total. There will be new systems like damage resistance and entanglement to deal with that will require different tactical solutions, plenty of new vulnerable points to discover and new enemy special attacks. In addition a bunch of the graphics will be better and I'm going to try to make the three 'locations' (the Cave of Shadows, the Field of Palm Grass and the Forest of Whispers) feel a bit more distinctive.

Sorry if I'm going over stuff I've already said recently, I'm just not sure what I've talked about and what I haven't. Broadly, I think this will be strong improvement to a combat system that I'm proud of, but didn't wind up quite as cool as I initially planned it to be. I still may put up a longer post about the combat system soon, if I get around to it.

What's coming in September?

I'm planning three releases this month: a public release for PAL 1.1, a $5 release for LMO and a $10 release for AotNM.

That's a lot of stuff and I can't be 100% sure what will be in everything, because I'm working hard on it but adding content to either game takes a fair bit of time.  I'll mostly be focusing on getting new stuff into AotNM. Sometimes adding content is fairly quick if it's already made and I just have to program it in, but if I have to write or edit as well as making images then it does take longer. So we'll see!

Sorry again about the late update. What do you think of the pic? Does the update plan sound like a good idea? Do you care about the combat system or just the girls? (Very much an open question for me.) Let me know in the comments!

Update - Bending Fumi over the table

Comments

I'll have a think about how I could make that work. It's a little hard to overhaul the conversation system at the moment because there are a lot of things already done by that, but maybe I can drop in suggestions here and there.

Don't worry about having the update a bit late, stuff happens. I'm glad you're getting better, having a cold sucks. I like the picture, I don't see the hinge issue at all. You've probably hidden it well then. I do care about the combat system, it just feels a bit to detached from the rest of the game. With the exception of the first battle, Po-chan and the final boss battle, nobody comments on the battles. All the other parts of your game are connected (talking, night service, maid work, the contracts that you find). It would help a lot if you can talk to the maids and the other NPC's about the combat. They could give their opinion on a paticularry hard battle, or give hints that might help you out. You can also hide hints in the library and other areas, to better connect exploration and the combat. Other than money, the monsters could drop items, that you can gift to the maids or sell to Hiroshi. So bottom (heh) line, try to connect your different mechanics more.
