It’s now just over three years since I officially created the Night Mind channel. In early April of 2015, I wasn’t ready to upload a video–the Marble Hornets Explained series was still in development, mostly in the form of dozens of pages of hastily-scribbled notes. But I was feeling great about my new endeavor, passionate, and ready to claim the name I had thought of for what this channel was going to be.
At the time, I was hoping to just be good enough to reach 100 subscribers and, if I was really lucky, to make 1,000 within a year. 3 years later, I have a Silver Play Button on my wall and I’m ¼th of the way to 1,000,000 subscribers.
250,000… that’s more than twice the achievement of a Silver Play Button, and if I sat to really contemplate the number and try to mentally envision it, I think I’d be rendered awestruck for a few hours and unable to function, haha.
You are all the most incredible thing that has happened to me. This life doesn’t feel real half the time–I often wonder if I’m in some sort of fictional storyline, myself, or a simulation. How could I get so lucky? How can I possibly have made it here? What do I need to do to maintain it, keep it, make sure this dream bubble doesn’t pop and reveal itself to have been some elaborate fantasy I only experienced in a machine? I don’t know. But if this is the real world, and this is my real life, all I can say is…
My work is so far from done. We’ve legitimized a presence for webseries, ARGs, online storytelling, and crazy artistic projects, but there’s still quite a stretch of road ahead for our group. And together, 250,000 night minds strong, we’ll see a new landscape for artists and creative enterprises take hold where this dream, this life you’ve given me, will be so much more readily available and attainable for EVERYONE who engages an idea.
And you all, on Patreon... you especially have made this happen. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to commit myself fully to this endeavor and live my life for the growth of independent creators and groundbreaking artistic ideas. Amazing things are happening because of the opportunity you gave me, and I can't wait to see the rest of our journey unfold.
