This week's image
I was going to show you a different picture - a neat one with all the maids in slutty swimsuits - but then I realised there's a spoiler in it. It's a spoiler that anyone who's completed the demo will already know about, but that doesn't necessarily mean everyone here will have seen it! I don't want to weaken your experience of the game, so I'm keeping that spoiler out of my updates.
Anyway, this picture is from a patron's commission, and it will appear in the victory suite as part of a longer beach scene with Ai. It doesn't involve spoilers because this scene kind of happens outside the established continuity. I'll be making some more that follow on from this moment; what do you think?
Railroaded by a cluster migraine
So this week for me was most notably marked by probably the worst migraine I've ever had. It's not like it was excruciatingly painful or anything, but it just wouldn't go away and lasted for most of the week. It came on around when I posted the last update and just wouldn't go away. Actually it was a 'cluster migraine', meaning it was a whole bunch of smaller ones that kept coming and going, and it's still kind of lingering with me right now, and I think I'd had it at a low level for about a week before it really hit in full force.
Unfortunately I can't work as well when I've got a migraine; it's not normally much of an issue for me as I only get them occasionally and they don't last too long. The problem is that when I have one I can't see properly and I have to avoid staring at screens, text and fine details, so pretty much any game development is out of the question even with a mild migraine.
This particularly hit me on several days this week when I'd planned to do game work, so my productivity was lower than I wanted. I feel like I've had to be explaining my unproductiveness a lot over the last few weeks. This frustrates me a lot, I can assure you. I can only apologize and say that I will hopefully not be afflicted again soon (although these things sometimes come in clusters, so who knows?). At least these updates keep me honest.
Progress? Writing, image design and sound editing
So with that said, I obviously wasn't completely idle when I had the migraine. I found the easiest thing to do was image design, along with a bit of writing to go with the images. Some images were re-renders in Iray because some of the older images needed to be updated to match the current quality standard.
I also did some sound editing, both to go with some of the new content, and just editing and inserting more of Iku's voice acting. You'll know if you read last week's update that I recently added in night service audio for Iku, well this is a continuation of those efforts. Her night service audio was already finished (and is in v0.8.1 of the game) but I still have quite a bit of Iku voice acting that I still need to edit and add in. I focused on her voyeur scenes first which include a truly epic sexual performance from Sacci on one of the lines in particular. :)
An idea for a small game: Stupid Cupid
I have a small sideline project in development right now; it's not stopping me from developing PAL, don't worry about that, but I like having something small in production that I can hopefully finish quickly, and I thought I'd do it as part of the AIF writing salon that's being conducted over on AIF Central right now. Call it an 'early hours of the morning' project. I'll go into more detail and show some character designs on here soon; I'll save that for a bonus 'all patrons' update, however.
A question to finish
Speaking of which, I haven't received any feedback that suggests anyone's actually seen any of the voyeur content. So my question to those who have played the alpha is: have you seen any of the voyeur scenes yet? I know they're harder to find, so I'm just curious if anyone's actually unearthed that content and whether you enjoyed it.
