I said I'd show another demonstration of the difference the new Iray renderer is making, so here it is. The older renderer is on the left and the new one on the right - otherwise they are exactly the same shot (with slightly different Photoshop post-work). I was actually pretty happy with the original on the left, but I think the new one really shows off how much of a difference the new renderer can make.
I already mentioned this in my $5 update but to those who can't see that, I wanted to say that this is all thanks to your support. I was able to afford a new, more powerful graphics card and without that I wouldn't be able to use this software, so that's your support making a direct difference to the quality of the game, right up on the screen. :)
Oh, also, not all images are going to look like that - some just won't work well in the new engine and many are already done to a high enough standard that there's really no point in reworking them. Also Iray takes a long time to work so it's very impractical for animations. I will, however, be using this where I can to create high-impact images for the game, like this one.
