tl;dr Another hello from a voice actress, progress update, and I'm continuing with Aiko 4 for now
Today's picture:
I'm following through on the requests for a Rio picture - this one is made by Phinn, and is my personal favorite of his Rio work so far (although there's still quite a bit left still to make). I won't tell you how they got into this situation, naturally. If you like it drop a comment down below - I'd love to give Phinn some nice feedback about his work, because I know he'd appreciate it.
Current progress:
I got a request for some specific update estimates on the progress of the project. I think that's fair, even though I find these generally pretty hard to estimate, especially as I don't always know where the finish line is going to be until I reach it. Still, I did my best to estimate how it's all going.
Visual:
- character design (100%) - a lengthy part of the process, but I'd done it before I announced the game.
- plot/sub-plot images (35%)
- sex scenes (35%)
- animations (20%) - I actually don't know how many of these I will make; they are a luxury, so this number could be higher.
Text:
- planning (100%)
- writing (90%) - maybe higher, it's mostly done, apart from a few bits and pieces that I will fill in as I need them.
- editing (75%) - Not too much trouble for me, I normally kind of edit as I write anyway.
Programming:
- game building (10%) - I won't get more specific yet, because this is still quite underdeveloped. Later I'll break it up some more into stuff like combat, and other systems. This low number is why you haven't seen more alpha versions yet, but you will.
Sound:
- voice casting (100%)
- script writing (100%)
- voice recording (60%) - I have Rio, Kimiko, Fumi and Hiroshi done; I need Iku, Masami, Ai and a few other lines. Since all these scripts are out, that should just be a matter of waiting.
- voice editing (5%) - I do this as I enter the lines into the game.
- background music (85%) - I've mostly picked out the tunes, but I haven't inserted many yet.
Continuing (for now) to work with Aiko 4:
I wanted to bring this up for the sake of transparency; I don't think you'll object when you hear my reasoning, but this still needs to be discussed. I had previously listed as my $100 goal a plan to transition from Aiko 4, which is the base female character model I design my 3D characters out of, into the more recent Aiko 6. I wanted to do this to improve the quality of my images. After experimenting for a good while, however, I have decided I am getting much better results with Aiko 4, while I'm having many technical difficulties even trying to get Aiko 6 working properly.
As a player, I'm sure what you care about is getting the best possible quality of images, and I feel like it would be counter productive to try to present lower quality stuff just because it's built with Aiko 6, especially when my skills with Aiko 4 are actually improving. To give you a small example, I don't think anyone's objecting to the design of Twyla in Let Me In, and she's an Aiko 4 model. I have also done some preliminary designs of some characters that I would like to put into future games, and I really like how they've turned out - I don't want to discard them just for the sake of jumping to a new character model. For now, then, I think it's better to channel my time and resources into continuing with Aiko 4, and while I would still like to move to a later generation at some later stage, I am not going to rush that transition until the results start looking to be worth it.
If you object to this do let me know, and I will try to address and/or accommodate any complaints or suggestions.
Let Me In progress:
This is probably mostly covered already in the separate posts I've made for Let Me In. I wanted to point out, however, that I'm developing LMI a little differently to PAL. Because it's so dependent on open participation, and because it's such an experimental (and small) game by comparison to PAL, I am planning to make a public beta release, hopefully before the end of the month. I am not planning to do that for PAL, even when it is more presentable.
I will kind of need the feedback of new people in order to make that game work right, and I also don't regard it as a project with the importance of a game like PAL. Releasing a public beta may also help me by getting more players to take a look at my work, which hopefully you will agree would be good over all. Normally, however, I don't really like doing this for games and I don't think it's well suited to my game style.
My plan therefore is to have a new version, hopefully with Twyla now asking more questions, and with a fully implemented blowjob ending, in about a week's time. I am still working on PAL while doing this, so it's a matter of making time for both, which slows down LMI a bit.
Hello from Catherine Wagner, actress for Kimiko:
I've attached a file to this update (it should be up the top, above the picture), which is another nice hello from a voice actress to you guys :)
This is from Catherine Wagner, who has already recorded all of her lines for Kimiko. She's been very excited about her part in the game, and I'm hoping you'll like her work.
Next week:
I might have an interesting thing to show soon - xxxbattery, an artist who illustrates sexy stuff - is working on a piece of fan art of Iku. When it's done I'll be able to show it off (that's pretty cool, isn't it?). I won't count my chickens before they've hatched on that one, though. He's still got commissions and stuff to work on.
If you have any picture requests (or update requests) let me know in the comments below. I still could show off Fumi or Iku's animal forms, or maybe a picture from one of the other characters you haven't seen for a while? Let me know if you have any preferences.
