$5+ Update 7

Progress While I've had a lot of boring, stressful, real life stuff to do this week in aid of paying the bills, I have still managed to make some progress. I've made a couple of images, done some work on $50 backer requests, and of course I've been working on casting the voice actors. Also I've worked a bit on restoring the Crossworlds series for modern systems – that's a work in progress, but I have some interesting news: it looks like the games may be able to be translated into French. I'll discuss that below. Casting voice acting I've been going through the casting stage for the voice actors this week. The process of casting voice actors is not exactly tough, but I find it personally challenging as I have to evaluate everyone and reject some auditions that aren't good enough. It also involves sending out rejections, and determining who should be involved based not just on performance, but also on likely commitment to this kind of project (some people audition without really realising what they're getting into, even though I try to make it really clear). I've still got a bit of work to do with this, but you'll be pleased to hear that at time of writing I've cast Iku, Kimiko, Rio and Hiroshi, and I should be able to cast a couple more parts soon too. A more satisfying experience... One design idea I've had in this game was that I wanted more sex happening throughout the game. In PAC and PAF you mostly have a lot of build-up until one big payoff when you get to the sex scene. For PAL I wanted to add in a bit more enjoyment throughout the game, without betraying the basic structure that allows for a build up of sexual tension. For this reason I've included night service (which includes some sexual activity before the sex scenes) as well as threesome scenes, and some other little things you may discover that extend sexual involvement beyond the main sex scenes. French translation of Crossworlds I don't yet know if this is going to pan out, but I've been thinking for a while it would be good to get translated versions of my games out there. Of all porn AIF is almost uniquely forbidding to other language speakers, but if I could get volunteer translators I could get the games out to people who would never play them otherwise. Anyway, someone happened to be volunteering that very service, so I took him up on it and sent him a transcript of a playthrough of Crossworlds Part 0, which is currently going through an engine upgrade when I get a few minutes here and there. Hopefully I'll be able to use the translation to release a full-fledged French version of the game, and if that works out fine I'll push on and do more games like that as well. Why is this good? It's mostly good for me, rather that you; it means I have a larger audience. There's a healthy French adult games community over at the Shark's Lagoon, where I'm already established. That just might help me a little bit in the long term, and the best part is that it shouldn't actually take all that much work. I'd like to see other languages brought in as well; I know I get quite a bit of interest from Germany, so a German translation would be good.
