Belle-A is actually speaking a POOR attempt at pidgin that is so bad it sounds like a bad attempt at blaccent but I promise that’s not what she’s going for. Source: my two best friends and I grew up in Hawaii and have been roasting her pidgin so hard in our GC. We’ve known so many transplants that try to talk pidgin and sound like her. Your take on people moving to Hawaii for no reason also aligns heavily with our takes on that. Hawaii isn’t a playground or place to find yourself, but native land (with people still alive that remember when Hawaii wasn’t a state…..that’s how recent the history is). One of our main GC gossip topics is roasting people that we meet who have cringe attitudes about Hawaii since we all live on the mainland now.
