Revisiting Heartstopper Season 2 - Episode 7!

Gooood morning beautiful people,

2 weeks today we will be watching the first episodes of Heartstopper Season 3! AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Anyway, today we are dropping in for one of the hardest episodes of the season.

See you in the comments,

Love, always ♥️

This episode is a real rollercoaster 😭😡😳🥰 I can‘t wait for season 3 now.

I always get annoyed at Nick's father saying "he doesn't understand". It is another way of alising someone and so arrogant. You don't have to "understand" to accept, care for and love someone. And the person saying it assumes that the world understands and accepts them.

I often wonder how long Charlie would have carried the pain & damage of what Ben did to him if Nick hadn’t come along. Because he never talked about Ben with his other friends. He couldn’t without outing him & Charlie would never do that. Had Nick not witnessed it & then become such a huge support for Charlie, can you just imagine how far he might have spiraled? It’s heartbreaking to think about. And the fact that his friends eventually know he’s not doing well, but they don’t know all the reasons. It just adds so many layers to the story. Alice really is a genius, the way she wrote all of this.

I had forgotten until recently that the dinner scene happens much later in the comic and would normally happen in season three if the show followed the same chronology. But I think it really does work very well here. It’s also interesting to compare Nick’s confrontation with his father to Wille’s confrontation with his parents in episode 5 of season 3 of Young Royals, where the tone is so very different. I do like how very controlled and reasonable Nick sounds here. Definitely a lot of powerful and significant scenes in this episode.
