The astonishing thing is we can see depictions of the Holocoust over and over and we tell ourselves we won't let it happen again... and we've let it happen so many times since then. And we've let it happen even worse. We think the Holocausts was the worst thing humanity has done, meanwhile Stalin and Mao made the 6 million killed by Hitler seem like practice to the millions more they killed. And China even now is still doing it. It's so easy to condemn the German civilians and say we'd never do what they did... but the fact I can name 4-5 genocides that have happened in my lifetime... while I did nothing to stop it... it's hard to condemn others for the same thing I'm guilty of. So much evil happening all around us that we just try to ignore.
