Chapter 101 – Commander of Unification

“What the hell was that?” Tom, who had just gotten back on his feet, stared as Terry’s entire survivors’ base was reduced to ashes.

The flames of what had once been homes were still visible in the distance, and when he lowered his gaze, he saw Terry lying dead in a pool of blood.

“Damn arrogant fool…” Alan brushed the dust off his hands. The pain he once felt for killing no longer carried any weight. He knew he had a duty—to protect his people, their future, and the future of hundreds of thousands more.

Perhaps these people weren’t a threat right now, but eventually, they would be to others just trying to survive. Alan had no choice but to wipe them out.

At that moment, three helicopters approached from the distance and landed where Alan stood.

“Greetings, Commander of Unification. What are your orders?” A broad-shouldered man saluted Alan with the respect he deserved. The entire elite force of the Unification knew their leader—and what he was capable of.

The moment Tom saw soldiers descending from the helicopters, he dropped his weapon. He wasn’t stupid—he knew these men would kill him without hesitation if he tried anything foolish.

“I guess I’ll be keeping my shotgun…” Kenny muttered, glancing at the group inside one of the helicopters. When he was given the signal, he stepped forward and boarded.

Alan scanned the area. The infected were closing in quickly, but that didn’t concern him. His soldiers had already secured the perimeter. Once everything was under control, he boarded one of the helicopters, and they all lifted off.

As the helicopters flew over the Governor’s former community, the passengers caught sight of the devastation below. Silence filled the cabins as they saw how completely the place had been erased, without the slightest trace of mercy.

“Are we really going with these people?” Margaret whispered, struggling to believe what kind of monster Alan truly was. Doubt began to eat at her.

Many chose not to speak up, but Kenny, seated in the same helicopter, said, “They have liberation programs. They’ll assign me a farm once we land. This isn’t the dictatorship people think it is.”

“I’ll be a military officer. All of us can grow within the Unification.”

Margaret looked at her husband and asked, “By killing people?”

“People who deserved it, Margaret. They would have slaughtered us if not for these soldiers’ intervention.” Lee tried to calm his wife, who seemed to be losing her grip.

Liam chose to stay quiet, staring out at the landscape from above. It would do him no good to be associated with the foolish outbursts of his friend’s wife.

“Zz… We’ve located the prison. We’ll establish a forward base at this location.”

Alan had ordered a base to be set up here to take advantage of its position—a strategic foothold to expand faster and faster.

There was only one mission: to outmaneuver the FEDRA As long as they had the opportunity, they would dominate the entire country and extend across the continent.

The grand beginning—Canada, the United States, and Mexico—was only the first step. This was Alan’s ambition: to see a perfect, strong, and prosperous world before he died.
