June progress & Fallout Finland volunteer work

June went by and I seem to have a few projects that are underway, but nothing fully completed. Figured I'll post an update on what's been going on instead.

First of all the crew from Fallout Finland organized a volunteer event to clean up and construct the game site. Quite a few people took part in it over 3 days and a lot got done!

All of the buildings in the main village were emptied out, cleaned, organized and a huge mountain of trash ended up being transported away. The buildings are now far less cluttered and more pleasant to use in all sorts of events.

There was also a large construction project that turned the theater stage into a bar, but since there were many people building that one, I worked on smaller projects myself. Big thanks to each of the volunteers involved!

Me and another volunteer deconstructed this fallen building on the outskirts of the main village. Most of the materials from it were recycled in other construction projects during the weekend.

My main project during this(and the following weekends) was taking apart and reconstructing a building that acted as a clinic/hospital in the Fallout larp and was otherwise used for storing building materials and equipment. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the building before deconstruction, so you'll have to do with some already in-progress.

As usual I took apart the original building that had a tarp roof and rotten walls, constructed a new framework and used the last pieces of sheet metal for the roofing. I removed all the nails and screws from the lumber that was still viable and recycled what I could for the new buildings.

The building features some more polycarbonate windows to let in light and a 'window' in the wall with a sliding hatch(This idea came from the construction efforts at EU-airsoft). It's still missing some walls and plenty of finishing work, so I'll make a full post about it once it reaches that stage.

Another project in progress is this metal shelter/bunker I put together from scrap. It's part of revamping the whole area it's located in as a sort of checkpoint, which still requires a lot of work. It's going to involve freshly filled sandbags and more fortifications.

Other than that, there's been smaller things I don't always document that well, like building tables from junk I find or bringing in more furniture to use at the site. Small things that add to the whole over time.
