Exciting Change Ahead: Moving to a Better Membership Experience!

Hey everyone, I’ve got some exciting news about the future of Darknet Diaries Premium, and what it means for you.

tl;dr (Short Version)

🚀 We’re moving from Patreon to SupportingCast – find us at plus.darknetdiaries.com

✅ You’re already migrated – just log in using the email you used here on Patreon

📅 There will be no more content posted to Patreon and we'll shut it down in 6 months

🎧 New bonus episode out now! “Pink Panthers”

Why the Move?

Patreon has been great, but over time, it’s had some serious drawbacks:

 • They laid off their entire security team (source), which led many of you to leave.

 • They’ve been slow to innovate—for years, they refused to integrate with Spotify while other platforms were embracing it.

 • They control the relationship between us, and I don’t like that.

That last point is important. With SupportingCast, I own the relationship with you—meaning if I ever need to switch platforms again, I can bring you with me. No more being tied to a single company’s decisions.

Why SupportingCast?

SupportingCast is built for podcasts and gives me the flexibility to grow. Plus, I can fully brand it under my own site, so your premium experience is smoother than ever.

What’s in it for you?

🎧 Ad-free episodes in an easy-to-use RSS feed

🔥 All bonus episodes (including the brand new “Pink Panthers” episode!)

💪 More control & a better listening experience

What You Need to Do

✅ Cancel your Patreon pledge – unfortunately you’ll need to switch manually. We've given you a 6 month free pass over there already, so take your time.

✅ Re-subscribe at plus.darknetdiaries.com

✅ Once subscribed, grab your new premium RSS feed to keep getting ad-free and bonus episodes.

📅 Deadline: This Patreon page shuts down in 6 months, so be sure to move over before then to keep access to premium content!

👉 Get your premium feed now so you don’t miss any new bonus episodes!

Looking Ahead

2025 is going to be huge. I just brought on two new writers, which means more episodes than just the standard monthly drops. More content, more stories, more of what you love.

Finally, thank you. I can’t say this enough—your support is what keeps this show running. Every single one of you means the world to me. I’m so excited for this next chapter, and I can’t wait for you to see what’s coming next! (I got something big in the works. Shhhh.)

See you on the other side!

My price hike is even greater, as I started my subscription quite some time ago. I'm going to make the most of the six month crossover, then just listen through YouTube. The show over there currently has no baked-in ads, and having a YouTube Premium subscription means I can still listen uninterrupted, and only lose the bonus episodes. I still love the show, but there are only so many creators I can support at the same time, and essentially $5/episode feels disproportionate.

Still is for now, but it'll likely be killed off at the start of August. Six months is the switchover timeline Jack's given in the post above.

Andrew Davison

Hahaha that’s so much worse because they can’t detect this, I feel your pain

Guillaume Rossolini

So the freefeed.xml won't be updated anymore?

I have the feeling like when you get one of those corporate fake phishing emails that are meant to test / "train" you not to click on things. The first time I got one of those, I traced the domain it linked to back to Mandiant, whom I knew was a vendor we were using for security products. BGP looking glass showed it pointing to a subnet advertised by our (my) own network. I loaded up a static sandbox VM to see what the link would do, and was rewarded with a mandatory 90-minute training video assignment. I don't want to play anymore.

Joseph Foley

Hi Jack, I’m worried about the no password thing on the new page? I wish you’d given us the option to migrate or not. You might not like this system but my data should have been mine to move?

Guillaume Rossolini

I would be happy to follow. But since CC is the only payment method that is not acceptable for me. Also the unexplained price change is really weired. If this was a hack and someone compromised Jacks pateron, got everybody to move over to a new site and enter their CC info... it would make for a great DD episode :-D

Markus Ellers

Two problems with the new system: 1. The new pod includes public ones, many of which I've listened to but I don't remember which ones... that's unfortunate. I wish the pod only included the "pro" ones. 2. Public pods on the Pro feed can't be shared. :(

This!

I checked out supportingcast.fm and it looks much better overall than patreon! great move, hopefully the transfer is smooth for everyone 🙂

Leland

@Disarrayer & @EvanLord, hm, could be browser issue? I used Firefox and it was all smooth for me, say the different plans and all smooth. Hopefully it’s not too many users that are having these difficulties! (I am all too familiar with them where it’s just some particular sites that this kind of thing happens to me all the time.)

Leland

Done. I very rarely think to log into patreon... glad I did tonight.

Andy Norris

Could you share some details regarding to the price hike from 3$ to 5$ while changing platforms?

Nathan Boone

Haha, previously we were protected by the payment going to Patreon, but since the recipient now came up as DARKNETDIARIES my card got flagged. No worries, though.

Matti Hansson

Yes I also had this issue and wanted to review to see if I could maybe do the more expensive one. I got an email saying to go to my account page to change my subscriptions and setting at any time and I’ll I can do is remove or change my payment. While I’m happy to support Jack and the show (which I have and already did in the new app) the whole experience just got downgraded IMO. It’s only browser based? Lame. While I don’t want to be a complainer group the user experience should also be taken into account no?

Evan Lord

Anyone else having issues with the new site? I saw the different plans once shortly on the setup site but they disappeared and I can't reach any payment sites or anything. I see only the different links to the podcast apps but no subscription plans. Two different devices, different networks, ... Still, no dice.

Disarrayer

There is also a change in prices, I think it's a little strange that it's not mentioned here. From 3$ to 5$ for the ad-free membership on the new platform.

David Olsson

Excellent news! I didn't realize there was an alternative to Patreon.

Lisa

No problem, happy to change. Thanks for the great shows!

Alice

Sounds solid, Jack. See you there!

Dan Sm@sh

Exciting news! Thank you for everything.

Good luck, hopefully all your subscribers follow over.

Looking forward to all the new things coming!
