Yeah, I would love to give it another playthrough. Particularly after hearing about how your Queen wound up in jail. Larian having the guts to end a major characters story like that is pretty great.

Aye, I ended up automating a lot of the fights too. Still, I'd like to go back to it!

Nice Iain M. Banks shout out, his books are absolutely stellar.

Great podcast. The observation about boardgames replacing local multiplayer videogames is definitely something I'm seeing a lot of. I love me some boardgames but I do miss the joyful stupidity of screwing around in local multiplayer. I played Galaxy Trucker a few weeks ago and it captured the feeling quite well, so maybe I just need to shelve the euros for a while and play sillier stuff. (Also I can't help but point out that the people who spent £200+ on Hearthstone could buy all of Netrunner for that kinda of money). I loved the bit where you try to explain Dragon Commander, it's got such a wonderfully silly premise. I really enjoyed that game despite not finishing due to feeling utterly burned out on the Risk-esque strategic layer by the time I reached act III. I do wish Larian was a bit less ambitious though (in this case anyways, the ambition really paid off for Original Sin). I think Dragon Commander would have worked better if they cut out most of the strategic layer and just determined army composition and size by racial approval ratings and an upgrade system. It would give racial approval a more immediately apparent impact and would keep the game focused on the parts that are most enjoyable (politics/relationships and RTS Dragon-ing).
