Hello everyone!

Phil's been out planting things. We were at a community garden last fall, and there was a very friendly guy tidying up his plot who stopped work to talk to us. He gave us some ground cherries, which we'd never had before. They were so good Phil took a certain amount of trouble to find them this year so we could plant some. Thank you, generous neighborhood garden guy!

We keep being promised little thundershowers, but they have yet to arrive. I'd quite like some good lightning. I don't know if I told you before (I'm getting old, so maybe) but a few years ago I was sitting with the kids. We had the lights off and I was playing Silent Hill 2. I was down under the town in one of the spooky dungeon areas, and suddenly out of nowhere Seattle was rocked by a single, absolutely heroic clap of thunder. We weren't even having a storm. It was wild, and people were talking about it online from all over the city. It turned out to NOT be Godzilla attacking, which was a bit of a relief, and it just happened to hit us at the perfect game moment. Lovely!

Ok, I'm off to get my evening walk. Thanks all!

There was quite the lightning storm over Sammamish two nights ago, but the thunder was fairly faint.

Since the Corbettites are the only monks currently represented in this context, I think it's taken for granted that they're the monks Franz is talking about here. But certainly there must be other orders of religious people elsewhere.

GG-world-context question about panel 3, wrt "the monks": Are more than one monk present on set? Because if not, the question is, does everyone understand "the monks" to mean the Corbettite Monks? If there are seven popes, there must be many orders of monks. But I can imagine that the Railroad is so important that everyone assumes its monks to be referenced if there's no more specific context, just as "three stars" means "three Michelin stars" unless some specific other rating is under discussion.
