I'm very excited about the new edition of WizWar that Phil illustrated! It's currently being crowdfunded by Steve Jackson Games, and I think it looks fantastic.
I remember sometime in the late '80's or possibly early '90's, standing in a game store with my friends and looking at Wiz-War on the shelf, wondering if that box art was by Phil Foglio. It wasn't, but I was even more unsophisticated back then and didn't know any better. Weird that now it is by Phil. It's a fun game, and a classic.
Speaking of classics, I'm also thrilled by the drawings Phil's been doing over the last few days: he's illustrating a set of Magic the Gathering token cards. Things like "Cat with Lifelock" and "Vampire." Anything that you might need a token for while playing Magic. Since we haven't played since Ice Age (or was it Legends?) we're relying on Victor and his MtG-playing friends to give us advice about what these words even mean. Phil is using a very What's New gorftastic style that I've always loved, so these cards are going to look very old-school Dragon Magazine, I think. Tomorrow I'm going to do my "mean art director" look-over and make comments about how I think the art could be improved. I'm told I'm good at this. Okay, then.
I worked into the night to get this page lettered so I can slack off tomorrow: I've got to go sit at the doctors office for a couple of hours to get the infusion thing that keeps my Crohn's disease calm, and I'm usually somewhat tired after that.
Back later with colors! Enjoy!
