Given the the accented YOU in the sentence he's refuting I think it makes perfect sense for him to also accent the same word in his reply. I would probably say it that way also.

2021-01-27 06:38:07 +0000 UTCAh, the plot thickens! This doesn't rise to the level of a typo, but I'm having trouble pronouncing the boldfaced "You" at the beginning of panel 3. When I read it, it sounds more like "You PAID me to..." The way you have it would make sense if his point were that /someone else/ paid him to ensure a successful chase for Grandmamma.
