Chapter 261: June Summer
Later that day, Junk, September, and April were all invited to the lady Minotaur’s home.
It turned out that she didn’t live in that ancient shrine, she only defended. Instead, she lived in a small house on the beach, which was not too far from the area where the team landed after teleporting earlier.
The lady Minotaur did not prepare tea or coffee for our guests, as people such as September and April typically would. Instead, she arrived with five tall pints of strong beer. One for Junk, one for September, one for April, and two for her. All of them sat at a large and rounded wooden table and began drinking. Well, the lady Minotaur started and then she was closely followed by Junk. Meanwhile, the witch and the ranger were still a bit too shaken to begin drinking yet…
“There you go!” she proudly handed them their beers.
“Alright! I won’t say no to a little glass of beer!” Junk lifted the pint before starting to drink. There was nothing little about it, really. At this point, the knight was still in his beast form.
“I never thought I’d ever meet another Minotaur! I had given all hope of that ever happening!” the lady Minotaur admitted.
“Me neither, to be honest!” he replied to her.
“Um… Isn’t it a little too early for beer still?” April wondered.
“April. We don’t want to miss her any respect, so you better start drinking, alright?” the witch whispered to her.
“Umm… Right. Right!” As soon as she realized that it could be a bad thing to decline to drink beer, April finally came around and began drinking the beverage that had been so kindly given to her. So did September, as well. She slowly began sipping her beer.
“So, you said that Junk was your name, is that right? That’s a funny name,” the lady Minotaur admitted to him, questioning whether it was his real or not. The tough woman wasn’t exactly on the defensive anymore, but she obviously didn’t trust that it was his real name, at all.
“Yeah, I know, it may sound strange, but it’s my real name!”
“Very well, then…” she drank more of her beer.
“And how about you? What’s your name? I don’t believe you ever told us?” Junk returned the same question to her.
Thud!
First thing first, she quickly and strongly placed her pint of beer back on the wooden table. Her head was down. A lot of shadow obscuring it.
She then slowly and triumphantly stood up!
This woman was not just any warrior nor any lady Minotaur because she was…
“The name’s June Summer!” she proudly announced.
Her name was, indeed, June Summer, and as her last name officialized it, she was born in this very province, the Summer province, which fuelled even more fire for September’s theory that she was the avatar and representant of Summer, just like she and April were.
“June Summer…” Junk repeated her name after her. He smiled. “That’s such a pretty name,” he allowed this compliment to slip.
“Nice to meet you, June, I’m April!” the ranger offered to shake her hand and June accepted. However, April was not ready for what followed… June nearly ended up accidentally breaking her arm during the tough hand-shake.
“It’s an honor to meet you, April.”
“Ah!” April was alright, she was only a bit surprised.
“I’m September,” the witch presented herself, as well.
“Nice to meet you, witch,” their handshake was just as strong as the one April had, but this time, September was a little more prepared for something such as this.
“Say, June, why were you protecting that shrine earlier?” Junk folded his arms together and asked her.
“I’ve been protecting my Minotaur shrine for years at this point. The shrine is symbolic to me. I thought that today was going to be the day that she came…” the lady Minotaur revealed to them.
“She? Who is that exactly?” he kept asking her.
“The Hourglass…” June finally unveiled a bit more information as to who she was expecting on that day.
“The Hourglass?” Junk once again repeated after her.
“This can’t be…” April uttered, letting it known that she knew who that Hourglass was… The ranger immediately turned to the witch.
“I hope we are not too late, then…” September admitted. Also, letting it known that she perhaps knew who this Hourglass was.
“What is it? I don’t understand?” Junk had no clue.
“Anyway… I don’t want to bring the mood down by talking about her anymore…” June quickly turned back to Junk, “so, you’re telling me that you are, indeed, a real Minotaur, huh?”
“Absolutely…”
Poof!
A ball of smoke later and…
Junk’s beast form was gone.
Just like that.
He was back in his regular human form, however, the evolved Minotaur armor was still on, at least, as well as the horned helmet and his visor.
June stared at Junk without ever blinking.
It was awkward for a while in the room while everyone was silent.
“So, you can’t maintain a complete beast form for a long period of time yet, huh?” the lady Minotaur figured.
“To be honest with you, this is like my first time ever fully transforming,” Junk admitted to her.
“I see…”
“I don’t even know how I did earlier to tell you the truth…”
“I helped you. I cast an enchantment on you to make you transform,” September cut in and gave an explanation.
“That makes sense and no, I don’t care if you have your beast form on or not. You are a Minotaur nevertheless, and that’s all that matters to me. All Minotaurs do have a human side to them and that’s completely normal,” June no longer appeared to be reticent or suspicious of him.
“Thank you…” Junk shook his head and smiled.
…
“That’s very good that you are beginning to trust us now since I must say that I am pretty certain that you are the…” September was just about to say something drastically important before…
“LATER! I NEED SOME ALONE TIME WITH JUNK! COME THIS WAY!” June suddenly shouted, interrupting the witch.
The lady Minotaur then aggressively pulled Junk by the arm and escorted him with her to a different room of her beach house–her bedroom.
“Okay…” Junk agreed to it.
“Hey, wait up!” September tried desperately to keep her from leaving, but it was already too late.
“What just happened?” April asked her best friend, September, confused.
