Mrs. Doubtfire: Jon B's Personal Reaction!

Mrs. Doubtfire: Jon B's Personal Reaction!

This film is one of my favorites of Robin's. Sally Field was incredible in this, especially that dinner scene her expressions were perfect. Recommend checking out Tootsie and To Wong Foo if your interested in any other cross dressing movies. To Wong Foo- Never in all my life did I think seeing Wesley Snipes in a dress would be believable but there are several scenes he pulls it off. Tootsie has Dustin Hoffman dressing as a woman and he actually looks great.

For sure

The actors actually fought an alternative ending where the couple does get back together. Both Sally, and Robin felt strongly they should stay separate-for the message at the end about different families.

I'm still in the middle of the reaction, so I don't know how much you figured out later, but the divorce didn't happen because of the party. There are several critical lines in the film, even early on, or scenes in the movie that maker it clear the breakup was a long time coming. One of them is when Miranda says, "We've been trying to work them (our problems) out for fourteen years." The party was not the problem. It was just the last straw. Everyone has a breaking point. This was hers.

Lisa would frequently travel to Graceland to sleep in Elvis’ bed, Riley writes. She was “desperate to feel protected, desperate to connect with her father. … It was the feeling of going to church when all is lost and saying, ‘Please, Jesus, help me.’“

Dylan Burch

Long before Elvis' death, Lisa Marie Presley worried he might die. “I wrote a poem with the line, 'I hope my daddy doesn't die,'“ she remembers. Among many incidents, she describes finding him face down on the floor of his bathroom. He had tried to steady himself on a towel rack, which broke and he collapsed.8 Oct 2024

Man, it's been a while since I've enjoyed this one front to back. I'm glad you liked it, Cody. And I'm glad you changed your tune on Miranda as she opened up more. I agree that the film ended on a better note in keeping the parents separated, and the message it delivered in doing so was simply beautiful. Great pick, Jon!

Great movie; I miss Robin Williams. He was a great actor. He will be missed.

I think what lots of ppl don’t realize is that it wasn’t just the party. It’s been years of Daniel being the irresponsible parent who would rather be a friend to his kids than a parent. He was attentive and present yes but he really didn’t do much as far as parenting. It’s just years of resenting him not sharing the burden of keeping the household together. I know cause my dad was the same. Ofc as a kid I preferred being with him because his mentality was screw homework and sleep let’s play guitar hero until 4 am on a school night. He really not cared about being a fun parent when I really needed him to care more about my needs (especially struggling with my learning disabilities , which my mom was on top of). I think this movie did really good showing both sides and both having different faults. As a child of divorce this movie really helped a lot growing up. Especially them not staying together at the end.

Ah, classic Robin Williams. Hell, if I didn't know it was him and watched the movie from Mrs. Doubtfire's first on screen bit, i would've thought it was a real old lady
