Such a beautiful story of lost humanity. THE defining deconstruction of the chosen one narrative. Paul is an amazing character. He tried so hard to be a good person, plain and simple, but he couldn't escape the destiny everyone else had decided for him. That's what fundamentalism does—it robs its leaders of personhood and its followers of agency. I'm so happy this story and all its nuances, from the vast universe to the messages therein, were finally given justice. This is ART. From the moment Paul rode his first sandworm to when he accepted the inevitable holy war, my heart was in my throat. I am so excited for Dune Messiah. Long live the fighters.
