I know today was supposed to be a horror movie with me and Nick however, we haven't had the chance to record one for my channel yet so I am uploading Spongebob instead lol and I am thinking you won't have an issue with that. 2023-10-20 09:41:01 +0000 UTCso the Shanghaied was originally a 22-minute special with the patchy segments. And it was a voting event. Patchy introduced the concept, and he had a whole bunch of phones. And he told the viewers to call the number on screen when it comes time for the voting. So, when the Flying Dutchman was doing the whole eenie-meenie-mini-moe, the show went "Vote Now!", and cut to commercials, and during the commercial the viewers got to call the number and vote who gets the last wish. Of course, Spongebob won, and this ending has been used in the re-airings versions ever since. But yeah, they did indeed completly edit the Patchy segments, and re-dubbed his lines. The original version of the episode has been preserved on the "First 100 Episodes" DVD.

I didn't watch much of Spongebob, but then I saw the Doodlebob episode at my friend's house and it freaked me out. I was thirteen at the time (I think) and it just creeped me out as much as those bugs creeped you guys out.

2023-10-19 21:00:13 +0000 UTCOoh, Sponge! I did kinda bring this up on Discord, but yeah, Shanghaied initially had multiple endings. When it premiered, kids called in to vote for who got the wish, hence Patchy's wraparound segments. Reruns just stuck to SpongeBob's wish and redubbed Patchy's parts--that's why his lips often don't sync with his dialogue. Not sure why they didn't just cut them out, but hey, I don't understand a lot of things about Nickelodeon.
