2023-09-05 20:47:36 +0000 UTCWhen I was little it made me terrified of butterflies, I would scream and run whenever I saw a butterfly. I was like 4 or 5 maybe if I was older I wouldn't have been so afraid. We had a butterfly in my kindergarten class and I refuse to look at it LMAO

2023-09-05 20:10:27 +0000 UTCI personally was never scared of the"butterfly" closeup, and I never understood why so many viewers found it so scary. The fact that the Bikini Bottomites are terrified of it was intended to just be funny, as we, the viewers who are familiar with butterflies and know that they are harmless, would just laught at them. And the way I always saw the episode, the only reason the butterfly appeared scary to the Bikini Bottomites is simply because it looked very large - the helmets, and the the bubble, acted like a magnifying glass, making the butterfly look bigger, and therefor scarier. But because I know that butterflies are harmless, that closeup never did anything to me even when I saw it as a kid, and I still don't feel anything scary about it now. --- Now, as far the "Spongebob and Patrick phone call Squidward", it was meant to be a gag. You know how in some cartoons, when a character is talking on the phone, the other person is muffled, so that it's implied that the person on screen knows what is being said, but we as the audience don't. And then, as the punchline of the joke, it cuts to Spongebob and Patrick, and they really are talking weirdly. It's essentially a meta joke, playing with the cartoon medium.

I was just annoyed that SpongeBob and Patrick thought something that small could eat the likes of Squidward and Mr. Krabs. In hindsight, kind of impressive that bug didn't scare a kid who was mentally scarred by the scarabs in the Mummy what I didn't say that. Ah, whatever the case, I'm always happy to see more sponge! Glad you guys got a kick out of it!

What it is, is actually a horsefly, so yeah... Thank the creators for wanting to up the creep factor. Feel bad for Nick, that noise is just NOT RIGHT 😂😂😅😅
