I love Mary, but she is often selfish. Unfortunately :( She can also be a hypocrite sometimes. But that actually makes her... human and more real than if she were perfect (as she wants to be). And that's probably why I like her anyway.

In regards to the Fiero, I thought I remembered something about them having issues, so I looked it up: "The Pontiac Fiero had a litany of issues, most of which were limited to the inaugural 1984 model year. The biggest were the low-capacity oil pans that caused overheating, faulty connecting rods that failed at a rate of about 1 in 10, and an electric panel that was mounted too close to the exhaust manifold." So that's why George's car went kaput. If he got it used, it may have been the 1984 model instead of 1980/90. I don't know enough about cars to know, though.

He was going be in the "big leagues" in his dream job with way better pay, even was offered more money nd . I think a free house . But turned it all down for his family

If you stop and think about it, this is probably the *first* time Georgie has felt like he is GOOD at something. On top of that, he's appreciated and wanted by his employer, and as you said, he's getting paid for it. He's getting paid in money, experience, and skills. In particular, work experience and skills at his age will give him a fantastic start as an adult. I can understand a parent's disappointment that their kid doesn't want to do or follow something the parent is heavily invested in, but that's part of being a parent! Most people have kids without even thinking beyond "cute baby" and "when they grow up, they'll be like this." Most of the time, the kid won't be or turn out the way that's expected, and it's up to the parent to provide guidance, wisdom, advice, and support. Even if they don't understand the kid's passions. My parents didn't understand my Wicca phase in middle school; they bought me Wiccan books. They didn't understand my love of punk rock; they bought me the albums. They didn't understand my obsession with games and gaming; they bought me D&D books and computer games. As I stumbled my way trying to figure out what I wanted as a career, they supported me emotionally and tried with suggestions. When I told them adamantly I never wanted children (a fact I never regretted), my mom was understandably disappointed. But she listened to my reasoing and she came to accept it, without pressuring me otherwise. I knew that I could tell them just about anything without fearing the response.
