I was the opposite, I don't usually like musicals, but I liked this one. mainly because it was done by Tim Minchin. :)

Why am I still crying dude?! Ms. Honeys "My House" song hit me harder than "It's Quiet Uptown" from Hamilton! When you watch it you'll understand what I mean lol They made Ms. Honey hit home for me. It's safe to say I prefer the musical Ms. Honey over the movie one.

Ugh I cried harder than Cody during her song. Like Not just cried....like blubbered and sobbed. I had to pause it and it took me 20 minutes to get my shit together to finish. Not the best best musical but my GOD I relate to this version of Ms. Honey so much!

yeah it's not the greatest musical, but the kids singing was cute. And loved Miss. Honey's story acr/song in general! It was super cute, though, seeing it on stage

I can say two things about this musical.
1. It was okay for what it was and it wasn't the best but I enjoyed it and it was okay.
2. I absolutely did not expect Ms. Honey's song, for me the highlight of the whole thing, to destroy me the way it did. I related to her in that specific moment in a way that hit me like a ton of bricks. Living alone as I do myself I see it as blessing and a curse. While I do enjoy my solitude and peace sometimes the quite and loneliness creeps in in such a way that is excruciatingly painful. Her song just really made me take a look and see my situation for what it is. I don't have much to call my own but I'm proud of it and it's enough for me. Fucking damn it I'm crying even typing this. Shit that song really got me.

I have a fondness for this musical, as it's one my sister and I took her oldest to see. And she was enthralled with it <3

You got me with the Oprah reference " you get a chokey, you get a chokey and you get a chokey 😂. Now this is interesting, I think the twist was interesting and actually I liked miss honey’s backstory, but miss honeys character and her relationship to Matilda was barley developed and it didn’t really make sense for her to adopt her here. I did like the brother in the original because it showed that they had the ability to care for a child they just didn’t care for HER. I really enjoy her story telling and her love of books still in this movie, but it doesn’t really show WHY. In the original she loves books to escape and get away from her family which a huge part of her character, it did not show that here. Her character is dynamic and there a lot of depth and nuance to it but not in the musical. This Matilda is pretty much one dimensional, stick it to the man flawless girl boss with no character arch really. First movie really felt like the point of view of kids and their perspective without insulting or inflating their intelligence but this one just feels like it’s kids doing stuff if that makes sense. At first glance it’s alright, it just missed some pivotal points that made the whole point of the character. That being said I did like the songs, (the singing was amazing!) the backstory, choreography and acting was good. Especially considering the actress playing Matilda is actually Irish and not even British so her accent was very good.

I love the musical so much! I highly recommend listening to the Original Broadway cast/ West End cast albums. The opening number is actually nearly ten minutes long and is so good! Plus, some songs were cut for the film that are so good, like both the mother and father have their own songs, and they are bops. Jenny has a couple of songs that they cut called "pathetic," which I understand why they cut in the film, but they are really pretty. I love love this musical so much. Tim Minchin is a musical genius.
