Daily XP on Self-Compassion

GGs, Players, and Good Respawn.

This is a continuation of our previous discussion on self-compassion. You can watch the full transformative video and audio in a previous post.

It really only takes one small action of self-compassion to begin adjusting the difficulty level of life. If this game was designed specifically so that you could exist, then you also have the power to adjust the subjective perception of that existence.

And by and large, what affects this perception is how you feel. Many of us feel as though we have no control over our feelings—they appear suddenly, like random encounters in an RPG. But instead of viewing them as unavoidable battles, what if we saw them as quick-time events?

You have a brief window to recognize what’s happening, assess it, and then choose a different response based on your evolving skill tree of self-compassion.

For example, let’s say you’re feeling overwhelmed because you made a mistake at work or in a relationship. The usual instinct might be to self-criticize or retreat. But instead, imagine a dialogue prompt appears on screen:

"You feel the weight of failure press down on you. What will you do?"

1. Criticize yourself harshly (-5 HP, Increased Stress)

2. Ignore it and push forward (Temporary Avoidance Buff, but will return later)

3. Acknowledge it with self-compassion (+10 EXP, Emotional Resilience Unlocked)

Choosing the third option doesn’t erase the challenge, but it allows you to reframe it as an opportunity to level up. Just like a tough boss fight teaches new mechanics, each moment of self-compassion upgrades your emotional stats, making future encounters easier to handle.

So today, instead of seeing setbacks as failures, see them as XP drops. Each challenge is just another opportunity to increase your wisdom stat, build resilience, and master the mechanics of your own story.

Press continue. Level up. GG.
