Donald J. Trump Will Usher in The End Times For Videogames.

Please share this where you can.

In America, as much as people like to say "keep politics out of video games," video games have always been political. Their very existence is a political statement. Games from Metal Gear Solid to Baldur’s Gate 3 are interwoven with narratives reflecting the struggle for resources and power, easily understood by those who have educated themselves beyond a grade-school level of political knowledge. Those who have moved beyond binary thinking—the simplistic breakdown of complex issues into static categories of good and bad, right and wrong—see this clearly.

For others, however, "politics in video games" is just a euphemism for the expression of any themes that challenge oppressive moral norms. They cling to their outdated views out of fear—fear of change, fear of cultural erasure. And for what seems like decades, but has only really been a few years, we have endured their incessant whining. Their understanding of social issues is about as advanced as the PS5 Pro is over the PS5. The so-called gaming culture war is nothing more than a shield for the inferiority they feel when confronted with games that feature complex themes and characters beyond their comprehension.

Like unspayed cats in heat, we’ve had to listen to their ceaseless caterwauling about DEI, "forced diversity," and the inclusion of women in games—particularly women who exist as more than a vessel for their next masturbation session. Now, as they claim victory in a war where only one side was fighting, they prepare to sit back and enjoy the games they think they have saved through review bombing, harassment, and character assassination. And with the election of Donald J. Trump, they believe gaming’s future will be all white, all male, and all theirs.

But their surface-level reasoning has blinded them to the truth: Donald J. Trump and his Project 2025 agenda will usher in an era of censorship in video games far more extreme than any "woke" directive ever could.

Trump, Project 2025, and the Real Threat to Gaming

Trump has already blamed video games for mass school shootings. Project 2025, the political playbook his supporters conveniently claim he knows nothing about—while he continues to enact policies from it—calls for an expansion of the definition of pornography and the eradication of content deemed "inappropriate." While video games are not explicitly mentioned, the document discusses “telecommunication and technology firms,” a category under which video games squarely fall.

Even if they weren’t mentioned outright, we don’t need them to be—Trump has already made his stance clear. And with a particular focus on banning so-called "transgender ideology," the very games that these "anti-woke" gamers love to hate—Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Dustborn—may not even get made. But it doesn’t stop there. Because Project 2025’s focus on "sexualization and pornography" means games these same gamers do love—Stellar Blade, The First Descendant—would also be under the chopping block. No more nude mods. No more Cyberpunk 2077 and its trans-inclusive storyline. No more Baldur’s Gate 3 and its gender-diverse character creator. Even Geralt of Rivia? No more getting it on with ladies of the night.

And the most dangerous aspect? The mere inclusion of these vague policies may have a chilling effect on the industry.

Gamers have been led to believe that DEI is to blame for the changes they see in gaming. But the truth is that it’s a mixture of poor implementation of good ideals and, more than anything, corporate greed—executives who don’t care about the artistry of games, only the money they generate. And with the penalties for violating these incoming “purity sanctions” including legal repercussions and financial penalties, developers may start self-censoring long before they’re even told to.

“He’s Only Going After the DEI Games” – A Fatal Miscalculation

I’ve seen some of Trump’s gaming supporters say, "He’s only going after the DEI ones." But what they fail to realize is that his definition of DEI will be far broader than even the most anti-woke gamer imagines.

We are already seeing glimpses of this shift. Figures like Melonie Mac have begun pushing for even greater censorship of "perversion" in gaming, attacking Stellar Blade—a game that should be the poster child for the anti-woke crowd. And when the next school shooting inevitably happens in America, video games will once again be the first to be scapegoated—just as they have been for decades, across both political parties.

So what are we to do?

A Call to Action – The Church of New Game+

My solution has been to create The Church of New Game+—a community of gamers who love video games for what they are. Gamers who aren’t afraid of diverse characters, who want to be part of an actual community, and who understand that gaming is about more than just nostalgia and exclusion.

It is my hope that by reaching 10,000+ members and achieving legal recognition as an official church, we can establish some form of protection—even if only for a moment—against the coming censorship. As of now, we have 678 members.

Beyond this last-ditch Hail Mary effort, the reality is that we may simply have to wait. But waiting doesn’t mean being silent. It doesn’t mean rolling over. And it certainly doesn’t mean letting the loudest, most ignorant voices control the narrative.

Gaming has always been political. Gaming has always been diverse. The real question is: will you fight for what gaming is, or will you let the reactionaries define it for you?
