Core Principles of The Church of New Game Plus
Added 2024-11-08 03:50:03 +0000 UTCThe following consists of the core principles of The Church of New Game Plus. Each of these helps form the foundations that will guide, but not direct, your journey. These principles are meant to serve as tools, inviting you to explore, reflect, and define your own path. Just as each quest in life is unique, so too is the way you choose to apply these principles. They are here to support you in creating your own lore, navigating your challenges, and connecting with others on their journeys.
1. Infinite Choice
Definition: Every avatar (member) is free to interpret The Basis, the doctrine, and life’s journey as they see fit. Infinite Choice means there is no single “right” way to understand existence; instead, each path is valued and respected.
Application: Avatars are encouraged to explore different perspectives and find personal meaning within the church’s teachings. Infinite Choice also applies to interactions—respecting the choices, beliefs, and experiences of others.
Reflection Prompt: “How does Infinite Choice shape your journey? What choices have you made that define your own lore?”
2. Reflections Not Revelations
Definition: Rather than claiming ultimate truths, the church provides reflections—questions, stories, and ideas for each avatar to consider and explore. Members are invited to engage with these reflections in their own ways.
Application: This principle keeps the church open-ended, encouraging curiosity and exploration over dogma. Members may share their own reflections, but all insights are offered as possibilities, not prescriptive truths.
Reflection Prompt: “What has been a recent reflection that impacted you? How did it help you see your journey differently?”
3. Choosing Your Own Lore
Definition: Avatars are invited to create their own lore, personalizing their journey by interpreting teachings, symbols, and experiences in a way that resonates with them. Choosing Your Own Lore means crafting a narrative that feels authentic to each avatar’s beliefs and experiences.
Application: Members can document their journey in a Lore Journal, share stories, or create interpretations of church concepts. The church welcomes each unique perspective, viewing the community as a tapestry of diverse lore.
Reflection Prompt: “What does your lore look like? How have you used experiences, teachings, or symbols to shape your own story?”
4. Embracing Mystery and Uncertainty
Definition: The church accepts that some aspects of existence are unknowable. Embracing Mystery means finding peace with the unknown, seeing it as a source of awe and inspiration rather than a problem to solve.
Application: Members are encouraged to approach life’s mysteries with humility, remaining open to the possibility that some answers may never come. This principle allows each avatar to relax into the journey without needing absolute certainty.
Reflection Prompt: “What part of life feels mysterious to you? How has embracing that mystery changed how you approach it?”
5. Tools, Not Rules
Definition: All teachings and practices within the church are offered as tools, not rules. They’re meant to support avatars on their journey, but there’s no obligation to follow them rigidly. Each avatar decides which tools help them most.
Application: This principle invites avatars to try different reflections, practices, and teachings without pressure, adapting them to fit their personal journey. It emphasizes flexibility and personal agency.
Reflection Prompt: “What tool has been most helpful to you recently? How have you adapted it to fit your needs?”
6. Conversations with Multiple Perspectives
Definition: The church values diverse perspectives and encourages open conversations where avatars can share insights and learn from one another. Every view adds to the richness of the community.
Application: This principle encourages respectful sharing and listening, allowing members to exchange ideas and experiences without judgment. It reminds avatars that each perspective is a valid contribution to the community’s understanding.
Reflection Prompt: “What’s a perspective you’ve encountered recently that made you think? How did it influence your view of your journey?”

2024-11-09 23:04:28 +0000 UTCI've done my best to live like this since I really started to look internally and figure myself out and proud to be a part of a community who wishes to do the same. Maybe we can make a real difference eventually 😁

2024-11-08 13:32:23 +0000 UTCGreetings traveler. It looks like you're *starting a new religion*. As someone who is keenly aware of the limited free time and attention span of the general populace of this great land, may I offer the suggestion of dictating the driving principles of this belief system into a recorded and easily replayable format (podcast)? I understand that this is a large undertaking for a solo adventurer, however I have faith that the companions met along the path will be nothing short of eager to help.

I offer the idea of adding a prompt, meaningful and relevant to the content of each subsequent post. I feel that even if the prompt isn't answered here it has a great potential to be thought about in private or with IRLs. GGs
