Today, I created my first game. It is called The Best She Could: Mother Wants to Talk. It is a snippet from an experience I have lived through and know many others well. The experience of growing up with a narcissistic or abusive parent. And while it is just a text-based choose-your-own-adventure game, it represents me completing a project from beginning to end. I have been working on this book for years and every time I start, I always get sidetracked. Something comes up ie: trauma. It is just hard to talk about this experience. But getting this little bit done has sparked something inside of me. I want to learn to code. I want to learn how to turn this small narrative experience into something larger that can validate everyone who has ever had to know what it is like to live with an unpleasable mother.
To do that though, I have much to learn. I need to learn to code. I also need space to work through the trauma of creating the game and reliving those experiences. So, I am going to use my patreon and my community The Situational Practice to build some support. I often wonder what my purpose is in life besides to make the same mistake over and over again. But I truly believe it is to tell this story. Because my story is your story and our story is important. It won't be all trauma though. With my page, I will post links to my tik tok lives, I'll upload gaming content just for you, and I'll keep you abreast of my learning and growth journey. Together we will make this game and our stories a reality.
