Disney and Pixar did a very good job here. It’s easy to say there’s this fictitious movie that kids are obsessed with. It’s another to recreate that movie into something that’s easy to believe could have been beloved and heavily marketed. Also, I very much appreciate that Buzz’s co-worker was a lesbian. It was nice having a platonic working relationship. There’s too many movies that have male and female leaders that end up together. It’s almost like they do that for the sake of creating conflict. I love that despite this being an action movie, a lot of the plot was internal. Buzz literally had to fight with himself for the sake of saving the universe. A lot of depth… Also, why don’t we have robot emotional support kitties? I feel like there would be a market for that.
