If you want to know why she dismissed Gale just like that. It is because in the books he is the creator of the parachute bomb trap that also killed Prim. And in the books she knows that Gale invented that specific boobytrap. And that is why she dismissed Gale. She can’t see him seperate from the parachute bombs and therefore she will always think he is responsible for Prims dead.

She had to act like she was on Coins side, so she voted for the games, so that she would let her have the chance to kill her. And I don’t think for a second that it wasn’t her intention to have Prim killed. She was underage. Coin would have had to have approved her going to the front line. And losing Prim would put Katniss firmly on her side... Also, Katniss’ mom can’t go back to 12... Too many horrible memories. It’s where she lost her husband, and now her daughter is gone. And as much as she loves Katniss, Katniss hasn’t needed anything from her since she was 11. if I remember right, she went to 3 or 4 to help make a new hospital. The cat, Buttercup scene always makes me blubber. It’s hard to get the relationship in the movies, as they aren’t going to focus time on a cat, but they hate each other. He has never made a noise other than to hiss in her direction. When Prim died though, it was almost as if he understood what must have happened, and he started guarding her like he did Prim.
