I can’t find the source to cite, but years ago, I watched a WWII documentary that claimed towards the end of the conflict, the Allies stopped trying to assassinate Hitler b/c the general thinking was that he did more good for The Cause left alone and in a critical decision making place. Given the recent year+ of shenanigans, Xi seems to be in a similar dynamic. The unfortunate thing is that the Chinese are suffering, and will continue to suffer, greatly for it. 😔
