1942 China Travel Guide

Hey Laowinners!

I found this pretty fascinating. This is a guide for American military in 1942 who would potentially be visiting China. This is pre-communist era stuff, but surprisingly a ton of it holds up today.

Really reminds me of my grandfathers stories of when he was stationed in Taiwan during WW2.

It was surprisingly progressive for the time, but the "playing into the hands of Hitler" part had me chuckling. Oh what a time it was.

Welcome all new Patreons, super happy to have you on board!

Are you familiar with a blood chit? Interesting piece of paper. We still use them today. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_chit

it's strange how much is still relevant

I wish there was a complete photocopy of this booklet. It is indeed interesting, as reading this prior to visiting could still help someone to this day, as you say.
