Replace Jesus with Xi Jinping

Hey Laowinners!

I saw an interesting piece of news floating around.
I am not a massively religious person or anything, but I did find it a bit unsettling that villagers in southern Jiangxi province (I've shot some videos there) have been told that if they want to overcome poverty (which still very much exists in many areas of China), they should replace images of Jesus, or Christianity with president Xi Jinping.

Party initiatives are easiest to spot in rural villages in China, and I have noticed a massive resurgence in hammer and sickle insignia, the leaders face portrayed like Chairman Mao was back in the day, and much more propaganda in support of the party. It's a bit weird to see China progress in so many ways, but take a step back in terms of the general feeling of being a one party communist state.

Religion has always been a contentious issue in China, and this recent development shows a bit of where the party is going in terms of countryside control. There is a lot more to cover on this subject if you guys are interested.
