I always wanted to visit Japan, and having been to over 30 countries in the world, I was always scared to go, because I never wanted to be disappointed. I know it sounds weird, but I felt like after living in China for so long, I would be a little bummed to find out that Japan was kind of similar, and pretty normal.
I couldn't be more wrong.
Japanese society runs like clockwork. The country is clean. Orderly. Polite. Beautiful. Delicious. Fascinating.
I am really blown away with how smoothly everything has gone. Even with traveling with a 1 1/2 year old baby.
My life will now be defined as pre-Tokyo and post-Tokyo. It might be expensive, but I recommend everyone to check it out at some point.
Lots and LOTS of videos coming your way from this trip, as I have been shooting non-stop, everyday. I hope you guys enjoy them!

That's the way to see the real Japan - outside of the tourist areas. I'm glad I got to spend more time in non-touristy places because I would always think of Japan like Tokyo or Kyoto. I was fortunate to have my daughter living in Kyushu Prefecture & her Mongolian boyfriend knew Southern Japan.
2017-10-01 07:06:14 +0000 UTCAs an American Citizen who was born and lived in China. I went to Japan several years ago. I can very much relate to your comparisons to all 3 nations. I didn't care to go the first time, but I loved it so much I went two more times in later years. It really is a one of a kind place for me. The latter two trips we did exactly what you guys did with conquering china: visit the non-tourist routes and just see the smaller towns of japan for what they are. I suggest you do that with Japan too if you get a chance even if it's just for yourselves :).

2017-09-29 16:53:58 +0000 UTCDid Tokyo 2 years ago. Amazing. The food was my biggest fear. (figured fish and ants for days.) Best pancakes, beef, rice, chicken.. You name it. I ate it and it was NEVER bad. Ill be back tokyo!
