Where You Go in China DEPENDS on the WEATHER!

Hey Laowinners!

You would be surprised at how many people ask us about the weather in China. It's gotta be the same as everywhere else, right?

Yes, and no. Of course China is a huge country with tons of different regional differences in weather, but it goes much deeper in that. For example, did you know that below the Yangtze river, there is no heating? That means you can be in a foot of snow, and come home to a freezing concrete box.

We live in a realllllly hot place, with very fickle weather, so we popped the drone in the sky, got it to follow us, as Winston and I chat about something everyone is affected by, the weather!

Where You Go in China DEPENDS on the WEATHER!

Yes, I had a similar experience in Qinhwuangdao, Herbei last year. I tend to get horrible 'Flus" every second year I visit China. Perhaps it is the Hot and Cold. Hot restaurants, and then freezing cold outside. Not sure, but I never get sick in Australia. Anyways, it got so bad, i felt that I needed to have a check it wasn't some Bird Flu etc. Anyways, we rock up to the closest hospital, and after paying around $AUD1.80 (10RMB) I had spoken to a doctor, had a blood test done, received the results, another consult with the doctor, and I was told to go accross the road and buy some none presecription medicine. (In australia, that would have had a net cost of $32, plus a cost for the prescription that I would certaninly have been prescribed.) Then again, if you need complicated procedures in China, that is where the money starts to mean better services. even payments for blood etc. Anyways, Mat via a "Super Chat" stated that he was very interested in this topic, so I guess we will get our answers sooner, rather than later..

I'd like to hear more about the comparisons, too. My daughter is considering moving to China (Mainland), and medical is always a consideration for people. In Hong Kong, she had excellent care. She also accidentally got a tiny scratch from a baby bat in Hong Kong when she tried to rescue it, as it seemed to have fallen from above. She was Skyping with me shortly afterwards, and I gasped and told her she had to see a doctor immediately and that bats carry rabies. The hospital said they don't have rabies in HK, but they do in the Mainland, and HK is just across the border. They came and actually picked her up in an ambulance, took her to the hospital, checked her out, drove her back and then helped look where the bat was but it was gone by then. It cost her $10. Pretty darned good to me!

Been following you for around 10 months. I live in Australia, and travel to China annually, mostly, but not always around CNY. Had 8 trips in all. Anyways, my wife, who is from Beihai Guangxi, whilst listening to a Podcast about health Care in China, stated, "If I did not leave China I would be dead now". The thing is, my wife had a brain anurysm bleed some 5 weeks ago. Fortunately, miraculously, as we live 2 hours drive from THE hospital that operated on her, we just happened to be 10 minutes drive away. Otherwise it would have been helicopters, time..... That was around 5:00PM, and 6:00AM the next morning, Xia had open brain surgery. I stayed in "Residence" 5 minutes walk from the Acute Neurological Care Ward" for the 3 weeks, and it did not cost me cent. Her operation, everything, cost us nothing. In Australia, we pay a levy, something like 2% on our taxable income. Hence our public health system is the second best in the world, with the UK leading the field. So, my friend, could you do a video on your interpretation on China's Health care system. Personally, I only see a dentist when I visit China, as dentists' are a luxury here in Australia. Though I have seen wads of cash been given to Dr's, Professors whilst visting Hospitals in China. What is your take?
