Patreon Early Access - The Death of Uber in China

Winston and I ride through sunny Huizhou as we discuss how Uber tried to enter China, but ended up failing miserably. We elaborate on how foreign companies in China often suffer the same fate, and why. We also talk about the explosion of Mobike, a Chinese start up that offers parking hubless bike sharing.

I just got back from my trip to Zhongshan and we used Uber constantly; however, I'm not sure if behind the scenes the Uber app was now just a front for the local company. I do remember my fiance (Zhongshan resident) installing two "uber" apps when we bought her new Huawei last week, but I never inquired why. As someone from the American Midwest I will say I was extremely impressed by the public transportation and how affordable and effortless it was to get anywhere without owning a car. The bike share program seemed to just pop up out of no where in Zhongshan while I was there.
