Hello Everyone, Bluesy Thursday!
My version is more about the rhythm guitar perspective. Every chorus is played with different chord voicings. You can choose what chord forms suits best for you. I didnt play all those Robben´s fills but you can find them on my transcription. Solo part is me impovising based on Robben´s solo.
Theory behind the chords:
First of all this is 8 bar blues progression.
Bar 1 & 2
Bb7 is one chord. F7 is five chord (dominant) and then back to Bb7 ( I V cadence )
After that Am7 to Ab7#11. This is II V to G where Ab7#11 is tritone substitution to D7
Bar 3 & 4
Another II V to F. Gm7 is two chord and C13#11 is five chord
C#dim7 is half step bridge to Cm7
Bar 5 & 6
Harmonized Bb scale walk up to five chord F7. Cm7, Bb/D, Eb, Edim7
Edim7 is again half step bridge to F7
Bars 7 & 8
Descending blues turnaround which leads to F7 (five chord)
Not the most throught analysis of the song…but now you have some kind of understanding about the progression.
Have fun!
