"So... where has laowhy86 been" some may ask.
"I need that fill of laowinning 3 times a week, but there was only 1 video this week...", said someone, I am sure.
"I was forced to watch Japan vlogs because you only posted 1 video!", said someone else, I am sure.
Well folks, I did something that took a lot of hemming and hawing, but I ended up pulling the trigger.
I was contacted by a producer from Ringier media in Switzerland to go to the Yulin dog meat festival and host an unbiased documentary on it. I filmed it vlog style, and also interviewed and co-hosted with one of their guys that is working for them in Shanghai.
The coverage of the festival has been super sensationalized by western media, ("the 10 day festival is a bloodbath and onslaught 15,000 dogs"), and I truly believe that our coverage of the event does not set out to humanize what was happening in Yulin, but at least to try and understand it's tradition and origins.
Of course, I don't want to spoil the videos, but I can tell you, I thought it was going to be a fairly smooth time, but it absolutely wasn't.
For those of you who craved the adventures (misadventures maybe) of the old laowhy86, you are in for a treat.
From expose style filming, to getting chased by the mafia, to getting threatened with knives, to police minders watching and following our every move, this video shall not disappoint.
It was the hardest thing I have ever had to film, and I will keep the gruesome shots out of the final product, but there were a lot of dead dogs and a whole lot of tension.
Stay tuned and keep on laowinning.
