Fake Vaccines

When it rains, it pours.

Just when you come to terms with having a baby in China instead of America, news like this comes out.

http://time.com/4267266/china-vaccine-scandal/

"According  to state media, a mother and daughter from eastern China’s Shandong province have been caught peddling 25 kinds of unrefrigerated vaccines — including for polio, mumps, rabies, hepatitis B, encephalitis and meningococcal diseases — to medical facilities across 24 Chinese provinces since 2010."

China as a 20 something year old single kid makes a lot of sense. Cheap booze, lots of interested girls, awesome food, friendly people...

But when you bring a child into the world, you realize that a lot of the lax laws, and wildness that attracted you in the beginning, is actually potentially life threatening.

Traffic is deadly. Food safety is atrocious. Antibiotic misuse is rampant. And now vaccines are potentially deadly. This news came out directly after I had my new born baby vaccinated... in China.

This level of immorality and corruption is crushing. And I'm having a hard time apologizing for this place anymore.

Thanks for being here laowinners.

It's difficult enough to make good choices when you have a decent chance that you're getting what you think that you're getting. I can't imagine being sane having to trust a system that seems so out of control in the most banal ways.

Yeah Dan. This stuff really gets to you after awhile. The dangers of unsanitary conditions become all the more difficult when you have a kid as well. What a shame things have to be like this. There is a trade off for all of the fun.

When SerpentZA did the video of Liya and mine wedding. In an interview I stated that I could spend 50/50 time in China. While waiting for Liya's paperwork to be completed I returned to China several times. It was not long I came to realize there was no way I could live there for any extended period of time. The food does taste good but when you go to the wet markets and see the food setting on dirty boards, covered in flies it was very difficult to eat anything. On one visit I contracted step throat. When setting in one of there store front infusion center receiving treatment a lady allow her child to squat and pee on the floor. The "nurses" just walk around or step into it. Finally someone came out with a bucket of dirty water and mop cleaned it up. I can go on and on of the unsanitary things there. China has stunning areas to see. It's culture and history is fascinating but to be more that a tourist there is all I want to be.
