It's been an amazing journey of 5000 km. on 125cc hand built bikes
across southern China. There are so many things to share, but let's
start with this.
Among our many brushes with death on
our journey, perhaps the most intense was on a 2500 meter mountain top
in southern Kunming. As our bikes choked around the corners in the thin
air, we were faced with selfish, lumbering trucks that would clog the
lane, and release their "truck juice" onto the road. This combination of
water, muck, and brake fluid is more or less ice to us bikers.
On
one particular occasion, a massive dirt filled truck ran me off of the
road, to the point where I was certain that I was going to go off of the
edge. As my rear tire struggled for grip on the dirt, I watched my
friend Winston go through the same. Winston and I pushed past the truck,
but our support and film crew trailed behind us in the car wasn't so
lucky. As they tried to get past, Eddie, our Hong Kong driver nearly
tipped off the side of the mountain, because the truck driver wasn't
having any of it.
Eddie got past, stopped the car
in front of the truck, ripped both guys out of the cabin, and swore at
them as he slammed their bodies into the side of the vehicle. After
roughing up 2 guys simultaneously, the quiet and low key Eddie
transformed into something very different in our eyes.
